Job Description

We are actively seeking an experienced digital print operator who has the necessary skills and experience to roll up his or her sleeves and jump right into the production workflow without supervision. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of organization and will have sufficient technical expertise to effectively prioritize and manage the digital printing workload. Must be highly committed to delivering top notch customer service and precision quality document reproduction on a tightly managed production schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Working with team members to schedule department workload on the small format digital color and black and white production printing equipment.
  • Reviewing and understanding production work orders; communicating with other departments, staff members, and customers to gather any additional information needed to complete the job to the customers' expectations.
  • Communicating with account managers, customers and graphic designers via phone and e-mail to provide file recommendations, document support, software advice, and layout recommendations.
  • Operating small format production equipment including printers, copiers, scanners, bindery equipment, cutting devices, and folding machines.
  • Performing hand work such as collation, folding, mailing preparation, and bindery.
  • File preparation, including file conversion, file manipulation, impositioning, document merging, flattening layers, and color management.
  • MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE MANAGING DIRECT MAIL PROJECTS AND WORKING WITH VARIABLE DATA.
Qualifications:
  • Experience operating digital printing and copying equipment without supervision.
  • Able to understand a print production work order and determine what steps are needed to produce a wide variety of small format printing projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all software used by customers submitting printing jobs and by print shop producing jobs, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Experience with Quite Imposing or other PDF impositioning software.
  • Experience with Satori mailing software, or other similar bulk mail software.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing as you will be interacting directly with customers and other departments to coordinate print projects.
  • Comfortable performing basic computer maintenance.
  • Strong file management and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment and able to work on multiple projects at once while maintaining a calm composure.
  • Experience performing basic printing equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, including changing paper and toner, clearing jams, following on-screen instructions to bring equipment back to operational standards.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the day.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
